Predictions: WWE Night of Champions (20.9.15)

night of championsAllow me to gaze into my crystal ball to predict the results of the matches at Night Of Champions…

Dolph Ziggler vs Rusev

Their match at Summerslam was something of a shambles. In fact, their whole feud is shambles. So why would we want another match between Ziggler and Rusev? Lana is out of the picture due to an injury, which means a vital piece of the feud is missing. WWE Creative have no idea what to do with either wrestler, so have bundled them together in a silly feud. Quite frankly, who cares who wins? My money’s on Rusev, simply because he deserves a victory after enduring a John Cena feud.

PREDICTED WINNER: Rusev

The New Day (c) vs The Dudley Boyz (Tag Team Championship Match)

This match should have taken place a few months ago. The Dudley Boyz should have worked their way up the tag team ranks and properly earned their title shot, after years of absence. However, just like Sting, they have been thrust into a title match because of the name value. That’s not to say they haven’t added a lot of excitement to the tag team division. But what about the Prime Time Players? Shouldn’t they still be feuding with The New Day? Regardless, I can’t see The New Day dropping the titles after winning them last month. They’ll be some screwiness, but The New Day will win the match.

PREDICTED WINNER: The New Day

Ryback (c) vs Kevin Owens (Intercontinental Championship Match)

Why are these two fighting? Because no one wanted to see Ryback feud with The Big Show or The Miz anymore! Owens hasn’t really earned a title shot; he appeared and just got one! True, Owens is the best heel in the WWE right now, and needs a big victory and a title reign. But at least let him win a Number 1 Contenders Match or something! Ryback’s reign as IC Champion has been mediocre, but he has improved in the ring. I’d like to see him and Owens feud for a couple of months. That’s why I’m picking Owens to win the match. It also gives Owens something to brag about!

PREDICTED WINNER: Kevin Owens (and new IC Champion!)

Nikki Bella (c) vs Charlotte (Diva’s Championship Match)

If Charlotte does not win the title at Night of Champions, then the Diva’s Revolution will die. It’s been on life support for a while. This past Monday night Raw almost killed it. However, the debacle that we saw almost guarantees Charlotte the Diva’s Championship. Nikki has beaten AJ Lee’s record as longest reigning Diva’s champion, so what else does Nikki have to achieve? If Charlotte doesn’t win, send the NXT Divas back to NXT. Back there, they might contribute something worthwhile to the product.

PREDICTED WINNER: Charlotte (and new Diva’s Championship)

The Wyatt Family vs Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and ????

Even with the unknown factor of the mystery partner, I’m going with The Wyatt Family for the victory. This feud will continue for another month or so, and for that to happens Reigns and Ambrose have to lose. Plus, with a monster like Braun Strowman on their side, how can Wyatt and Harper lose?!?!? He single-handedly took out Reigns and Ambrose, so why do the other partners have to be there? Anyway, The Wyatt Family for the victory. And as for the mystery partner? The Great Khali? Now that would be a shocker!

PREDICTED WINNERS: The Wyatt Family

Seth Rollins (c) vs John Cena (United States Championship Match)

Can Rollins beat Cena on two consecutive Specials? Has that ever happened to Cena before, losing to the same person twice in a row? Yes, it has, when he was beat by CM Punk at Money in the Bank and Summerslam 2011…but that’s not the point! I reckon it will happen to Cena again. It would add to Rollins’ list of grand achievements (“I beat Cena AND Sting in one night!”), and Cena doesn’t need the US Title anymore. He brought it back into the limelight, now it needs a new man to hold it. Of course, I don’t mean Rollins: he should drop it to someone else at a later date. But I can’t see Rollins losing to Cena.

PREDICTED WINNER: Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins (c) vs Sting (WWE World Heavyweight Championship)

Another match, another unearned title shot. Sting merely attacks the WWE Champion and gets a title match? After losing a big match at WrestleMania? But then again, it’s about time WWE did something with Sting. He can still go in the ring and looks in great condition for his age. However, he will fall to Rollins. I’ve got a feeling WWE want Reigns to defeat Rollins for the WWE Championship. It makes perfect sense (Rollins cost Reigns the title at WrestleMania 31). But is Reigns ready for the title? Will he ever be? That’s a question for a different time. At Night of Champions, Sting will be another man who lays down for Rollins, by fair means or foul. Like I mentioned above, it gives Rollins plenty of bragging rights. Beating Cena and Sting in one night (hopefully without Jon Stewart’s interference)…that’s legendary!

PREDICTED WINNER: Seth Rollins
