Of course, the WWE Network has ‘Best of Hell in a Cell’ special on its ‘Trending’ section. The Hell in a Cell PLE is this Sunday! I presume its exclusively matches from the Hell in a Cell PPV. There are some great choices on there, like The New Day vs The Usos in the first ever Hell in a Cell for the Tag Team Championship. And, unbelievably, there is this match, between Kane and The Undertaker for the World Heavyweight Championship. Is this some kind of joke?

The Undertaker and Kane have feuded since Kane’s debut inside Hell in a Cell in 1997. And, to my knowledge, they’ve never had a match together that rose above mediocre. Of course, if you think about it, the Hell in a Cell match would be a great ending to their epic feud. But it would have needed to take place during the Golden Age of Cell matches…before the PG rating.
This bout is basically the usual Taker/Kane match inside Hell in a Cell. By that, I mean it’s slow, plodding, and overlong. Sure, it starts out fast and furious, with Kane attacking Taker with a steel chair. However, that chair is soon forgotten about, as are other weapons. Yes, for the rest of the match, weapons are not used!!! Instead’ Kane works over ‘Taker’s knee for the duration. That’s as dull as it sounds.
This should be a brutal, uncompromising match, even under the PG rating. But this may as well be a regular match for all the use made of out the Cell and weaponry ‘Taker tries to bring the bout to life on the odd occasion, but fails. To be fair, he had fought in one of WWE’s bouts of 2010, against Shawn Micheals at ‘Mania XXVI. Against Kane, few people were capable of dragging a good match out of him (off the top of my head, I can’t think of any memorable singles matches involving ‘The Big Red Machine’).
Worst of all is the ending involving Paul Bearer, ensuring that the feud between the two “brothers” was not over. The Cell is supposed to end feuds, not prolong them! Rollins and The Fiend may be objectively worse, but to me, there is nothing worse than a boring wrestling match. This should be on the ‘Worst of Hell in a Cell,’ not ‘Best of Hell in a Cell!’
