What I thought of My Top 10 Most Anticipated Films of 2016 (In The U.K!)

top 10

Last year I wrote up a list of my most anticipated films of 2016 (in the UK!). Click here to see it in all its glory. For some reason, it didn’t include Creed or The Neon Demon, two of my favourite films of the year, but let’s forget about that! Here are my verdict on my most anticipated films of 2016…

Review: Ghostbusters (2016) (A Remake Too Far?)

ghostbusters 2016

“The first sentence is: ‘This is not a joke’”

The remake of ‘Ghostbusters’ is not a bad film. It’s not a good film. It’s just a film, produced by cash-hungry Sony to make a quick buck off a beloved franchise. Typical of Paul Feig comedies, it misses more than it hits. But it’s not the car crash of the film I believed it would be. It’s a decent dollop of harmless entertainment. However, it falls into the traps that many modern remakes fall into repeatedly. A far too high reverence to the original, coupled with CGI splurges that dull the senses, damage the film’s individual identity. We’ve seen it all before… Continue reading

Predictions For WWE Payback (1/5/2016)

payback 2016Payback’s a bitch…but on paper, WWE Payback looks like a pretty good PPV! It looks a whole lot better than WrestleMania 32, that’s for sure! My predictions for ‘Mania were almost wholly wrong, so here’s hoping my crystal ball is more accurate for Payback! However, the card for Payback seems unpredictable, so many of my predictions will be no more than mere guesses! Continue reading

Review: The Boy (2016) (Wouldn’t Frighten A Doll!)

the boy

“It’s like something out of a storybook, isn’t it?”

When a movie includes a line like that at the beginning, you know something’s wrong. Near the beginning of ‘The Boy,’ Greta Evans (played by ‘The Walking Dead’s’ Lauren Cohan) exclaims this line about the old, large house she is about to spend a few weeks in. It elicited a few giggles from the audience at the cinema. Let’s get this out of the way with first: ‘The Boy’ is the least scariest horror I’ve seen since the remake of ‘Poltergeist.’ Doing a horror/thriller about a possessed doll is a tough thing to do, but this film manages to get almost everything wrong. However, there was at least a little enjoyment in pointing out all of its flaws… Continue reading

Predictions: Fast Lane (22.2.2016)

fast lane

‘Fast Lane’ zooms into the WWE Network tonight. With a decimated roster due to injuries, the WWE are struggling to put together matches for ‘WrestleMania 31’ (and everything else!). However, after ‘Fast Lane,’ we will hopefully see a clearer picture of the card for WrestleMania. As for ‘Fast Lane’ itself? Apart from the main event, is there anything worth watching? Maybe Kevin Owens vs Dolph Ziggler, but we’ve already seen that match plenty of times in the last month or so! But I’m still here to give my predictions! Continue reading

Predictions: Royal Rumble 2016 (24.01.16)

royal rumble 2015

Tonight, the road to WrestleMania begins with the Royal Rumble! However, due to the curse of injuries afflicting the WWE at the moment (has Dixie Carter done a deal with the Devil to make sure as many WWE superstars are injured for the biggest PPV of the year?!?!), I reckon the road won’t be paved properly until Fast Lane. That’s why the WWE Championship is on the line in the Royal Rumble: so the Number 1 Contender spot isn’t set in stone. No doubt we’ll find out the Number 1 Contender at Fast Lane! They should bring back the Elimination Chamber to decide who that will be…Anyway, here are my predictions for tonight’s event! Continue reading
