In my humble opinion, Justice League was the disaster that the DCEU has been waiting to unleash upon us since Man of Steel was released four years ago. It is an awful film with few redeeming features. Even taking into consideration the reshoots and change of director, there’s no excuse for a film this terrible. But what went wrong? “How many people have you really saved?”
Where do I even start with Justice League? I’ve put off writing this review since Friday because I simply don’t know if I even can be bothered to write about it. It seems Warner Bros couldn’t be bothered with Justice League. The film feels rushed, unfinished, and put together by a child. Even considering the change of directors earlier on in the year cannot excuse the mess that is Justice League. I was a defender of Batman v Superman because that dared to be different. Justice League is a sub-par copy of The Avengers, lacking Snyder’s distinct vision for the DCEU. Continue reading

“Everything’s changed”
‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ is a mess, let’s get that out of the way with first. It’s three or four films merged into one. Even with its lengthy running time, it feels rushed in many places. It darts from plot to plot and character to character that there’s barely enough time to take in what’s happening. However, in spite of all its flaws (and the mostly negative critical reaction), there is a fairly enjoyable film hidden in among all the clutter. Yes, I am a Batman v Superman defender! It’s not the best comic book ever made, but it isn’t the worst one, either. I’d say I enjoyed it more than ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ (as a comparable film). Continue reading

There’s one plus point when it comes to preparing for ‘Batman v Superman’: there’s only one film to watch: ‘Man of Steel.’ It was a film I disliked a lot when I saw it at the cinema. I found it dull and repetitive. The last hour was an endurance test, of both my ears (the cinema sound level was eardrum bursting! My fiancée had to cover her ears!) and my patience. It was climactic fight after climatic fight, building after building falling in tiresome order. My second viewing found me disliking it a little bit less…but not much so! Continue reading
