Samoa Joe and Finn Balor vs Dash and Dawson (Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Semi-Final)
A good match to start off NXT Takeover. It’s one that won’t be remembered long after the event, but kicked off the event with two fan favourites and an underrated tag team. Balor gave the fans his usual high-flying antics with an early somersault plancha on Dash and Dawson, outside of the ring. It looked like Balor was going to win it singlehandedly, but then Dawson chop-blocked Balor’s knee. The story of the match then centred around Dash and Dawson savagely attacking the hurt knee of Balor. Dash and Dawson are a very good tag team, and this was very apparent during this match. Their double timing is perfect. Of course, they built up to Balor’s hot tag to Joe, who battered both Dawson and Dash. He set up for his Muscle Buster, but Balor wanted the tag…after hesitation, Joe tagged him in. Joe hit the Buster, and Balor hit the Coup de Grace for the victory!
