A few days ago, Randy Orton and Edge competed in “The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever.” Not my words, by the way, but the words of the WWE! Why promote anything as “the greatest ever?” It just places a huge burden on the participants to deliver something phenomenal. Regardless, it was a very good bout…even great…but the greatest ever? Questionable. Continue reading

HAMMY’S TOP 10…DANIEL BRYAN MATCHES
(Sorry about the lack of posts recently. A family bereavement, marriage preparation and other events have taken precedence).
So, it’s WrestleMania season…but all everyone is talking about is Daniel Bryan! Yes, the Yes Man has been medically cleared to wrestle! The dream matches are innumerable. He even took an (unnecessary) dangerous apron powerbomb from Kevin Owens on last night’s edition of Smackdown Live. Obviously, he’s heading towards a WrestleMania confrontation with Owens/Sami Zayn. But never mind that…I’ve not been this excited about someone’s return for…a bloody long time! Yes, Daniel Bryan stole my heart all those years ago. He stole our hearts by being an underdog…but also by being a bloody great wrestler! So here are my Top 10 Daniel Bryan matches… Continue reading
Review: WWE Network’s 100 Best Matches: #46 Team Hell No (Daniel Bryan and Kane) and Ryback vs. The Shield (TLC Match, WWE TLC 2012)
(Here’s the link for the match on the WWE Network: http://network.wwe.com/video/v31288929/?contentId=31288929&contextType=wwe-show&contextId=tables_ladders_chairs)
We’ve already encountered The Shield once at this list at #93 (click here for my review). This entry is actually their first ever match on the WWE’s main roster. Before that, they wrestled on NXT. At TLC 2012, they rocked the wrestling world. They delivered one of the matches of the year against the team of Daniel Bryan, Ryback and Kane. I don’t think anyone expected this TLC match to be anything special, but it easily stole the show. Even with the green Ryback and the aging Kane, it was a manic, barnstorming and chaotic brawl that encapsulated everything great about the TLC concept. Continue reading
#ThankYouDanielBryan

In 2010, I was an avid fan of ‘WWE.’ I watched almost every programme the WWE had to offer, including the new ‘NXT.’ Back then, NXT was a talent show, where eight ‘rookies’ would fight to gain a contract to the WWE. On the first season of ‘NXT,’ one of the rookies was Daniel Bryan. I’d heard of him before (thanks to the ‘Power Slam’ magazine), but hadn’t seen him in action. On that night, he fought Chris Jericho in a blinding battle. From that point on, I knew I was seeing the next big WWE superstar.

In my review of the The Great Sasuke et al vs bWo Japan (placed at #98. Read my review here), I wrote “forget The Shield, [that] was true six man tag team action.” That was not a knock on The Shield, but they rarely used their numbers to commit devastating three man moves (apart from the triple team powerbomb, of course). However, The Shield were involved in some of the best matches WWE has had to offer in the past couple of years. They lit up Raw and Smackdown on a weekly basis. Continue reading
