Well, the dust has settled, and Avengers: Infinity War has just crossed the $2 billion mark worldwide. So I think it’s safe to have a spoiler-filled reflection on one of the few films I’ve watched twice at the cinema in the past few years (the other one was The Greatest Showman…the second viewing was the singalong version! And I had the time of my life!). I loved Infinity War (click here to read my review!), so it’s time for me to discuss why I loved it in-depth (and also explore a few niggles with the film!). Don’t read on if you haven’t seen Infinity War! Continue reading

What’s Wrong With Star Wars Fans?
Kelly Marie Tran, the actress who played Rose Tico, has removed herself from Instagram. This was allegedly due to consistent harassment from haters of The Last Jedi. Whether or not the haters are the reason Tran removed herself from Instagram, it’s been documented that Tran has been the subject of racist/sexist abuse since The Last Jedi was released. Is it because she was involved in a film that destroyed the childhoods of many a Star Wars fan? Or are some Star Wars fans simply racist/sexist?
Spoiler-Filled Thoughts About Solo: A Star Wars Story
If you’ve read my review, you’ll know I didn’t care for Solo: A Star Wars Story (click here to read my review!). I’ve not really cared for any Disney Star Wars film apart from The Force Awakens (and that’s purely because my nostalgia glands were begging to be tickled!). Both Rogue One and Solo seemed pretty pointless to me. But many people have enjoyed both Star Wars spin-offs. Is it just me? Let’s talk about it…
Review: Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) (Do We Need Another Prequel?)
“This is nothin’. You should see that”
Did we need a Star Wars spin-off about the early years of Han Solo? That’s the question I’ve been asking myself since the film was announced. Let’s disregard the problems behind the scenes. Let’s disregard Solo’s box office “failure” (let’s be honest, it will make a profit, won’t it? Disney have left it to die in a May slot, slotted between Deadpool 2 and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. But it will still make a profit). The bare fact is that Solo: A Star Wars Story needed to be something pretty darn special to justify its existence. Didn’t the Original Trilogy tell us all we needed to know about young Solo? This spin-off isn’t special, and doesn’t tell us much that we needed to know about young Solo! Continue reading
Ideas For Star Wars Spin Offs: Episode III
The second Star Wars spin-off will be with us soon. Yes, Solo: A Star Wars Story will tell us everything we needed to know about a young Han Solo (well, probably apart from his conception. This is Disney we are talking about!). Also rumoured to happen is a film about the lost years of Obi-Wan Kenobi. I can’t imagine that will be interesting, can you? An aging man watching a young boy grow up from afar? Not exactly a family film! I’ve already wrote about some wacky ideas for Star Wars spin-offs, but as Solo: A Star Wars story is fast approaching, I’d thought I’d add some more wacky Star Wars spin-off ideas for your reading pleasure! Continue reading
Review: Coco (2017) (Another Pixar Masterpiece?)
“Sometimes, I think I’m cursed”
Well, I was not prepared for that! Pixar’s latest animated film, Coco, proved to be an emotional rollercoaster for me. I’ve not cried that much during a film for a very, very long time. And it wasn’t just a few tears…towards the end it was a full-on flood! My fiancée didn’t even shed a tear! Maybe it proves my theory of the male period…but that’s a tale for another time. It probably means that I can’t review it objectively, but I’ll try my best. For now, Coco stands out as a top-tier Pixar film. And that’s saying something, isn’t it? Continue reading
Random Film Thoughts: Solo: A Star Wars Story-What’s The Point?
So, there’s four months until Solo: A Star Wars Story comes out…and all we have are a few photographs and a synopsis! Yes, that’s right: no trailers, no footage, nothing. The second Star Wars spin-off has had some difficulties (like getting rid of the original directors four months after they started filming the thing!). The new director, Ron Howard, has had a lot on his plate. What will come of Solo: A Star Wars Story? All we have for now is the synopsis. It’s furthered even more my belief that the Solo spin-off in pointless! Continue reading
Spoiler Filled Thoughts On The Last Jedi (And Why It Disappointed Me)
WARNING: SPOILERS FOR THE LAST JEDI (2017)
I’m ready for a second viewing of The Last Jedi. It may be one of those movies I appreciate more on a repeat watch. In my review of it (click here to read it!), I didn’t delve into spoilers, as that’s unfair on people who are reading the review but haven’t seen the film. Now, however, it’s time to dive straight into spoiler territory to understand why I disliked the film. Not only for the reader, but for myself as well. Sometimes, you take a dislike to something without knowing why. Not only that, but a lot of the criticism of people who hated The Last Jedi has centred on a few things. People’s legitimate criticisms have been undermined by the film’s defenders. I’ll take a look at those along the way as well. Continue reading
Review: Star Wars: Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (2017) (This Is Not Going To Go The Way You Think…)
“What do you know about the Force?”
It’s been five days since I watched The Last Jedi. Part of me wanted to love it. Part of me wanted to hate it. It may have received one of the most divisive reactions to a Star Wars movie ever. But my mind is still divided against itself over The Last Jedi. I’ll probably come up with a rating by the end of this review. But that could change after a second viewing. I reckon a second viewing might be necessary to absorb everything portrayed in The Last Jedi. It was bloated, poorly paced and plodding at times. Some character plot lines were questionable at best. The core story wasn’t very interesting at all. But The Last Jedi tried its best to shock us by throwing everything including the kitchen sink at us. And that’s why I still can’t make up my mind about it. Continue reading
Review: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) (The Best Star Wars Prequel?)
“We call it the Death Star”
The latest instalment in the Star Wars saga, The Last Jedi, is due out at the end of this week. So it’s time I took a look back at the last Star Wars film…Rogue One: A Star Wars story! I watched it at the cinema, but didn’t write a review because I found the experience mediocre. A rewatch later and I still have the same feeling as I did before about it. It’s intermittently diverting enough to absorb you into its story. However, I couldn’t shake the bad feeling that I’d seen all of this before. I knew where the film was going and how it was going to end…and nothing distracted me from that. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story felt like a remix of the Star Wars films we’d seen before. Continue reading
