HAMMY’S TOP 10…ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER FILMS

Twenty years ago today, Judgment Day happened…Skynet became self-aware and tried to wipe out humanity. Or, Skynet would have done had the T-800, Sarah Connor and John Connor not prevented it. Today, Terminator 2: Judgment Day is being re-released in 3D to “celebrate” the twentieth anniversary of the avoided Judgment Day. Personally, I would have had Terminator 2 re-released last year for the 25^th anniversary of it’s release. But what do I know? I’m not James Cameron. But it will be glorious to see Arnie and co on the big screen (I never had the opportunity to see T2 on the big screen!). It got me to thinking…what are my favourite Arnie films? He’s been in some of the all-time greats, and some of the most terrible films committed to celluloid. He’s done it all, from becoming a mega movie star to being Governor of California. I’m sure more than a few people would prefer him to be President over Mr. Trump. But, alas, that’s not possible. So all I can offer is my list of Top 10 Arnold Schwarzenegger Films!

HAMMY’S TOP 10…FILMS OF 1987

Hey, did you realise it’s been thirty years since 1987? I was but a little boy back then, in the heady days of Thatcher’s reign over Britain and the closing years of the Cold War. While I was watching Thomas The Tank Engine (and being scared out of my wits by the Ghost Train episode!), 1987 was being graced with great films. Of course, as I grew up, I became acquainted with the films of 1987 (not all of them, however. I still haven’t seen The Princess Bride!). Here are my Top 10 Films of 1987!

Review: Predators (2010) (The Added ‘S’ Is For…)

“What if we’re dead?”

Continuing my ‘Predator’ voyage, I decided to watch ‘Predators,’ the third film in the ‘Predator’ franchise. Well, technically it’s the fifth film, but I don’t count the Aliens vs Predator films. I’ve never watched them, and can’t bring myself to watch them! hy I force myself to see a film I know will be awful? I have a sixth sense for films. The accuracy is about 70%, but for sequels and remakes, the accuracy rises to at least 85%. Alarm bells rang for Predators, but I still went to see it. Adding an ‘s’ to the title worked for Aliens, a cracking sequel. However, it adds nothing to this film at all. While I felt differently about ‘Predator 2’ (read my review here) after a rewatch, my feelings remained the same about ‘Predators…’

Review: Predator (1987) (If It Bleeds…)

“You’re looking good, Dutch”

Can you believe that ‘Predator’ is 30 years old this year? 30! The plot is simple. Spaceship lands on earth, alien comes out of said spaceship, alien hunts and kills humans. A military task force headed by Dutch (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger come face to face with it…It’s not the plot that really matters here, but the visual language and what the audience interprets along the way. It’s a more thoughtful film than you’d think.
