Review and Results: Elimination Chamber 2018 (25.2.2018)

On Sunday, we were given WWE Raw’s last stop on the road to WrestleMania: Elmination Chamber! Yes, this year, Raw was given the privilege of having the Elimination Chamber. On paper, it looked like a decent PPV. The first ever Women’s Elimination Chamber match included two fairly green wrestlers in Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville, but the other four wrestlers could carry the bout. The men’s Elimination Chamber match was stacked with talent. But for the other matches? I could take them or leave them! As it stands, Elimination Chamber was…average! Continue reading

Review and Results: Royal Rumble 2018 (28.1.2018)

I think it’s safe to say that once again NXT Takeover proved to be a better Special Event that its main roster bigger brother, Royal Rumble 2018. However, it’s always difficult to better an NXT event, especially when that contained a main event that was phenomenal! Royal Rumble 2018 was the first Rumble event in a long time that provided lots of entertainment in the titular (male) match itself! Yes, that may be because it gave us a winner worthy of a WrestleMania main event, but also it was booked (fairly) well! The women’s main event was probably the second best match of the evening. The disappointments were most of the other matches, unfortunately… Continue reading

Review and Results: NXT Takeover: Philadelphia (27.1.2018)

Last night, NXT presented NXT Takeover: Philadelphia. Once again, they put on a show that the following WWE PPV (in this case, Royal Rumble) will struggle to better. Why do that to themselves? Why not have NXT Takeover and the WWE PPV on separate weekends? Logistically, it makes sense to have them on the same weekend. But the WWE PPV always struggles to better its “developmental” brand’s offering. NXT Takeover gave us one Match of the Year contender in its main event and only two (relatively) forgettable matches. Continue reading

Review and Results: WWE Battleground (24.07.2016)

Sasha Banks and Bayley vs. Charlotte and Dana Brooke

I picked Carmella to be the mystery partner, but of course, the predictable choice was the correct one: Bayley! She came out to a storming ovation. The crowd were thoroughly into this match, thanks to Bayley and Sasha. Dana Brooke did her best to bring down the quality of this match. But the sheer talent of the other three women kept the quality high. Not a great match by any means, but a fun opener that set the tone for the rest of the night.

WINNER: Sasha Banks and Carmella

VERDICT: 7/10. A fun and exciting opener that thrived on Bayley’s “surprise” entrance. Continue reading

Tye Dillinger vs Oney Morgan (I think…)

The surprise of the night? I expected this to be a squash match, but not in the way it panned out! Morgan dominated Dillinger. ‘The Perfect 10’ got a few moves and shots in, but this was Morgan’s match all along. Morgan looked good out there. But why would Dillinger be sacrificed to a newcomer? Is he doomed to put newcomers over in the opening contest? Or will we have a storyline redemption for Dillinger?

WINNER: Oney Morgan

VERDICT: 5/10. An average bout that was a notch above the usual squash match. But it gave us a surprise ending!  Continue reading

Review and Results: WWE Money in the Bank 2016 (19.6.2016)

mitb 2016

If you call something ‘the greatest ever’ before it has even happened, then you’ve pretty much shot yourself in the foot. WWE’s brag that this would be the greatest Money In The Bank would be the greatest PPV of its name seemed an absurd brag, considering half the matches were Raw level matches. As it happened, even a few of the big bouts failed to live up to greatness…

Recap: WWE NXT Episode 332 to 337 PLUS ‘NXT Takeover: The End’ Predictions!

nxt 1

I haven’t posted anything about NXT since Episode 331! That was a month and a half ago! Part of the reason is work: the boss was off for two weeks, so I was in charge. Another part is Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword! I can’t stop playing it…but I am nearing the end! But, to be honest, NXT hasn’t inspired me to write anything. The NXT Championship may have changed hands (at a house show!), but there hasn’t been a lot to shout about concerning the show….So here are my thoughts about NXT, Episodes 332 to 337… Continue reading
