If you’ve read my review, you’ll know I didn’t care for Solo: A Star Wars Story (click here to read my review!). I’ve not really cared for any Disney Star Wars film apart from The Force Awakens (and that’s purely because my nostalgia glands were begging to be tickled!). Both Rogue One and Solo seemed pretty pointless to me. But many people have enjoyed both Star Wars spin-offs. Is it just me? Let’s talk about it…

Did we need a Star Wars spin-off about the early years of Han Solo? That’s the question I’ve been asking myself since the film was announced. Let’s disregard the problems behind the scenes. Let’s disregard Solo’s box office “failure” (let’s be honest, it will make a profit, won’t it? Disney have left it to die in a May slot, slotted between Deadpool 2 and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. But it will still make a profit). The bare fact is that Solo: A Star Wars Story needed to be something pretty darn special to justify its existence. Didn’t the Original Trilogy tell us all we needed to know about young Solo? This spin-off isn’t special, and doesn’t tell us much that we needed to know about young Solo! Continue reading
The second Star Wars spin-off will be with us soon. Yes, Solo: A Star Wars Story will tell us everything we needed to know about a young Han Solo (well, probably apart from his conception. This is Disney we are talking about!). Also rumoured to happen is a film about the lost years of Obi-Wan Kenobi. I can’t imagine that will be interesting, can you? An aging man watching a young boy grow up from afar? Not exactly a family film! I’ve already wrote about some wacky ideas for Star Wars spin-offs, but as Solo: A Star Wars story is fast approaching, I’d thought I’d add some more wacky Star Wars spin-off ideas for your reading pleasure! So, there’s four months until Solo: A Star Wars Story comes out…and all we have are a few photographs and a synopsis! Yes, that’s right: no trailers, no footage, nothing. The second Star Wars spin-off has had some difficulties (like getting rid of the original directors four months after they started filming the thing!). The new director, Ron Howard, has had a lot on his plate. What will come of Solo: A Star Wars Story? All we have for now is the synopsis.
